What’s not included

We think that the ingredients we leave out of our products are just as important as the carefully chosen ingredients that we put in. Many skin and hair care products contain chemically manufactured ingredients which can cause irritation to people or the environment.

Formulated with 100% natural or naturally approved ingredients, our hand-blended products do not contain any harsh chemicals such as phenoxyethanol, synthetic fragrances (parfum), parabens, SLS, PEG compounds, phthalates and carcinogens.

Barbershop Botanicals products are free from;

Parabens

Parabens are a common type of preservative used in personal care products. Whether your product is natural or not, they need preservatives to stop bacteria growing. Some research indicates that they are potentially endocrine disruptors - meaning they have an effect on the normal functioning of hormones within your body.

Colour

Barbershop Botanicals is free from artificial colour.

Synthetic Fragrances

Barbershop Botanicals uses only natural fragrances making it a perfect product range for people with skin sensitivities and allergies.

Silicones

Silicones are commonly used in personal care products to help improve their feel and to help lock in moisture. However, they can also lock in dirt and bacteria too, causing skin irritations, break outs and clogging of the pores.

PEGs

PEGs are emulsifiers or thickeners. They can reduce the skin’s natural moisture.

Petrochemicals

Petrochemicals are chemicals made from crude oil and natural gas. They are not good for you, or the environment!

Propylene Glycol

Irritation can be seen at low levels of Propylene Glycol.

Phthalates

Phthalates are petrol based chemical substances.

Phenoxyethanol

Phenoxyethanol is often used as a preservative. It can cause skin irritations.

Mineral oil

Mineral oil is a petroleum-based ingredient which can be found in some skincare.
